JEP 142: Reduce Cache Contention on Specified Fields

David,

I have not been active on the concurrency-interest list and don't know if this 
is the same issue as discussed there, but it does seem likely. In the mail 
discussions I was involved in when creating the JEP @contended was discussed as 
one way among others of identifying the fields.

Maybe Doug has seen both discussions and know if they are the same.
