There could be cases where you've used SA under the hood of some j-* tools,
e.g. jstack -F/-m or on core dump, jmap -heap/-F or on core dump, etc.
And yeah, SA can be broken from time to time...for the exact reason you
mentioned below.

I'd concur on this point. But do please come up with a viable alternative
before discontinuing SA.
