Hi,
my test builds ran fine. I tested
  linuxppc64 (fastdebug only, machine overloaded)
  linuxppcle (fastdebug, release)
  rs6000_64 (AIX) (fastdebug, release)
  linuxs390x (fastdebug, release)
  linuxaarch64 (fastdebug, release)

all based on Stefan's webrev.04. I would regards this patch as ready to push.

    I'm preparing the test builds now. Checking out the repository with mercurial
    takes longer than the actual builds :O.
