My post seems to have been interpreted as saying that I don't think
OpenJDK should consider downstream projects when making changes.
I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. I didn't say that, and I hope I
never would. The question at hand was about blackholes, and the crux
of this issue is whether HotSpot support for blackholes should be
considered a purely internal implementation detail of OpenJDK or
something shared with other projects. Aleksey clearly intended this
patch to be an internal OpenJDK thing only, but it doesn't seem to be
working out that way.
I strongly believe that every project has to care about its downstream
projects, otherwise the community wouldn't function at all.
