I forgot to answer the second of the two questions below:-

The two are, in some sense, orthogonal; and, yes, that orthogonality implies
that they "play well" together (although I might be able to give a more useful
answer if you asked a more specific question regarding your concern about
their interaction perhaps; as i said trhe first flag above is obscure enough
that you should not really need to worry about it, IMO).
