I think it makes sense to file a bug report, if not for anything else, just
so it doesn't fall through the cracks and
someone with spare time can look through the code and find the bug that
would allow this to happen (and fix
it). :-)

A bug report is a terrible thing to allow to fall through the cracks,
especially in a software system that has the kind
of longevity and ubiquity that the JDK/JVM has.
