Yup.  It's certainly doable, but it adds yet another maintenance/sustaining
burden.  The existing text format already receives a lot of scrutiny, so I
can see how Oracle would be reluctant to tack on another (completely opaque
without a spec) format.

In an ideal world, what you'd really like is a pluggable logger so you
could do whatever you want there.
