<p>While upgrading Tomcat from tomcat 6(6.0.28) to tomcat 7 (7.0.54). the following problem happens. TOMCAT 7 (7.0.54) memory consumption increased about approx. 3 times compare to the existing tomcat 6 (6.0.28) memory consumption.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p>The underline JVM is <o:p></o:p></p>
<p><span style="background:yellow;mso-highlight:yellow">java version "1.7.0_09-icedtea"</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p><span style="background:yellow;mso-highlight:yellow">OpenJDK Runtime Environment (rhel-2.3.3.el5.1-x86_64)<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="background:yellow;mso-highlight:yellow">OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.2-b09, mixed mode)</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p>Tomcat 6.0.28 memory consumption MAP. RESIDENT MEMORY:300-400 MB Approx.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p>Tomcat 7.0.54 memory consumption MAP. RESIDENT MEMORY:900-1800 MB Approx.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p>Underline java platform is same(OpenJDK7) in both tomcat 6 and tomcat 7. Now question is that, why the memory consumption increased about 3 times in Tomcat 7.<o:p></o:p></p>
