Carlo,

If you have a question about interpreting the Java SE 7 Edition of the 
JLS (or JVMS), please mail me directly. There are thousands of 
"features" in the JLS and JVMS, and it is my job to ensure the quality 
of their specification.

In the case of JLS7 12.6, the text comes from the JSR 133 spec. I will 
consult as widely as necessary to resolve any ambiguities it may have. 
If a clarification is needed, I will file a specification/language issue 
for SE 8 in the Java Bug System, and post the URL here.

P.S. There will be feedback aliases in the Java SE 7 Editions of the 
books when they are printed early in 2013. I have no further information 
of any kind about the books.
