JSR 398 (Java SE 23): JEP Proposed to Target: 455: Primitive Types in Patterns, instanceof, and switch (Preview)

The following JEP with scope "SE" has been proposed to target JDK 23:

  455: Primitive Types in Patterns, instanceof, and switch (Preview)

  Summary: Enhance pattern matching by allowing primitive type patterns
  in all pattern contexts, and extend instanceof and switch to work with
  all primitive types.  This is a preview language feature.

The announced deadline for feedback to jdk-dev is Mon 22 Jan 23:59 UTC:

If there are no unresolved objections at that time, then the JEP will be moved
to the Targeted state, indicating that the feature is expected to appear in
