JSR 393 (Java SE 18): JEP Proposed to Target: 420: Pattern Matching for switch (Second Preview)

The following JEP with scope "SE" has been proposed to target JDK 18:

  420: Pattern Matching for switch (Second Preview)

  Summary: Enhance the Java programming language with pattern matching
  for switch expressions and statements, along with extensions to the
  language of patterns.  Extending pattern matching to switch allows
  an expression to be tested against a number of patterns, each with a
  specific action, so that complex data-oriented queries can be expressed
  concisely and safely.

The announced deadline for feedback to jdk-dev is Tue 23 Nov 23:59 UTC:

If there are no unresolved objections at that time, then the JEP will be moved
to the Targeted state, indicating that the feature is expected to appear in
