JSR 393 (Java SE 18): JEP Proposed to Target: 418: Internet-Address Resolution SPI

The following JEP with scope "SE" has been proposed to target JDK 18:

  418: Internet-Address Resolution SPI
       https://openjdk.java.net/jeps/418

  Summary: Define a service-provider interface (SPI) for host name
  and address resolution, so that java.net.InetAddress can make use of
  resolvers other than the platform's built-in resolver.

The announced deadline for feedback to jdk-dev is Thu 4 Nov 23:59 UTC:

If there are no unresolved objections at that time, then the JEP will be moved
to the Targeted state, indicating that the feature is expected to appear in
