For the record - this has nothing to do with the JEP being targeted and 
the basic local variable type inference support (JEP 286) also has this.

While I understand the concern of 'var' and 'final' seemingly pointing 
at opposite directions in the space, I must also note that the spec (and 
devs too?) has used the term 'final variables' for ages:
