Thank you for explaining this to me! 

I think there's a bit of a danger when explaining tip & tail with the example of OpenJDK: "Generic tip & tail" is less restrictive than "OpenJDK tip & tail". But by constantly mentioning OpenJDK, folks may think that they have to put out a  tip release every six months and a new LTS version every two years. You know, just like OpenJDK does  – but "generic tip & tail" mandates none of that.
