It would be better to bring this discussion to core-libs-dev. Test
descriptions can include constraints so they are only selected (or
not selected) on specific platforms and/or in specific
configurations. Also tests for the zip area also have some history
with issues that only surface with specific zlib implementations.
There is interest in reproducible builds in some quarters (including
IBM folks building the JDK) but this is indeed problematic when
using zlib compression.<br>
