It was necessary to disable jcheck locally to pull in the 9.0.1 update:

pulling from http://hg.openjdk.java.net/jdk-updates/jdk9u/jdk

adding manifests
adding file changes
added 47 changesets with 169 changes to 120 files

Bugid 8174109 already used in this repository, in revision 17325

Once the 8183297 jcheck configuration update is pulled in, this is no longer
an issue and jcheck can be re-enabled.
