The intention here was to streamline the process. You can tell what
backports have been requested by searching for the X-critical-request label
(and its corresponding X-critical-approved) - understanding what has been
committed (as opposed to merely approved) will require checking the
repo for a changeset. (we've added a couple of links to the project page [2]
to make this more obvious)

We're certainly not averse to resurrecting the mailing-list centric approach
if the general consensus supports it however!
