Hi again,
it’s common knowledge amongst those engaged here, that there will be an Oracle JDK 11.0.3 update and an OpenJDK 11.0.3 edition. In the JBS bug system, we can see fixes marked as “11.0.3” if they target the OpenJDK and those going into Oracle are marked “11.0.3-oracle”. As the OpenJDK updates should be at least as good as the Oracle editions I think we should port the fixes that are in Oracle’s 11.0.3-oracle version to OpenJDK 11u.
I’ve created a JBS filter that lists all issues that have been backported to 11.0.3-oracle but don’t have 11.0.3 backports yet [1]. As the filter uses some more advanced Jira queries, you’ll need to be logged in to find it working. Maybe the query also has a bug or two – I’m looking forward for comments/suggestions
So, looking at my query, I can see that there’s some 43 issues which ought to be brought to jdk11u.
I would volunteer for doing the work to go through the list and do the downporting. I would first check if the upstream patches apply, then request the downport approval and do the pushes. If the changes don’t apply cleanly I would ask for help by the original authors/reviewers of the patches or ask for help in the mailing lists. Please let me know if I should do this or not. If I don’t hear objections until Monday (02/18) EOB, I’d take it as approval and would start the works.
Thanks
Christoph
