I tend to agree. Maybe a good time to do the 11.0.4 switch (or subsequent patch release switches) is about 4 weeks before the planned release date.

For the community I guess it is important, that you at Redhat do the security patching based on the stabilized repository and are in a position to immediately merge the security changes back to the public repositories on the release day. All the downstream OpenJDK builds will rely on that.

So you have a certain degree of freedom to choose the timing for branching according to your needs.
