I think you are good with being Author when suggesting the backport. You are encouraged to do all
the bits for Fix Request (applying the patch, authoring the RFR if needed, testing, etc). The only
wrinkle is that you cannot push the result.

It is very unlikely that somebody would invest the time in the backport _just_ because there is Fix
Request. The intent is that whoever does Fix Request does the bulk of the work.
