There is no plan to move 8u development to github.

As we have already discussed, it shouldn't be something we consider
for 11u until it is clear that it is workable for a long-term support
release that needs to do bulk pushes of quarterly security updates.
At this point, there hasn't even been a release from a git-maintained
tree.

It is honestly getting a little tiresome to have it raised in
otherwise unrelated discussions as if it is the solution to every
problem. It also rather undermines the idea that 8u & 11u should
follow the same process, if it is being suggested that 11u move to a
different version control system.
