There are no implicit timeouts almost anywhere in OpenJDK projects (with notable exceptions of role
voting, I think), and almost everywhere you need the affirmative action. Here is how the backporting
process works: until formal maintainers say "yes" or "no", nothing is certain.
Andrew, having that Lead (maybe as in, "made from lead") Maintainer hat burden on his shoulders,
asked me to follow up with risk assessment. I did the first round, and now I have to follow up on
Liang's improvements for the second round. I am planning to get around to that soon.
Even the simple patches sometimes drag for many days / few weeks, until reviewers catch up. For the
change like this, it is prudent to expect a very careful pace on top of that.
