I always build without PCH, because my hardware allows to spend more time on it. I figured it out: 
all my build configurations also include --with-jvm-features=shenandoahgc, which must have included 
interfaceSupport.inline.hpp transitively somehow. I'll add the vanilla build config to my test 
scripts...
