You can, and it will. The approvals should start very soon and have been held up for unrelated reasons.

Subject: [External] : Start of JDK17 Updates

Hi (Rob?),

as JDK17 is in RDP1 at the moment and will soon enter RDP2, I’m getting more interested in backporting changes to 17u. More and more things are not allowed for jdk17 any longer but still are candidates for upcoming updates.

I see that GitHub repo https://github.com/openjdk/jdk17u<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://github.com/openjdk/jdk17u__;!!ACWV5N9M2RV99hQ!c1np2vZ-LuG6N_Fe3mRgl0g6an2iEr9fmV0TRavY4JkT0Lq-mPCCSBOIkx8zTbtD$> was already created. However, it hasn’t been refreshed since 4 weeks or so. So, my question is twofold:

1. Can I already request backports and push them to jdk17u?
2. Can the repository be refreshed again and then be merged more often (e.g. with the weekly tags) from now on?

Thanks
Christoph
