Statement on future JDK 11u Maintainership

As many of you are aware, there has been considerable interest in
maintaining JDK 11 Updates for some time to come. With that in mind, I
announce that I expect to stay in post as Lead Maintainer until
October 2027.

As as happened with JDK 8 updates, I expect us to taper the volume of
changes over time. JDK 11 is, for most purposes, done. We will
consider fixes for serious security or stability bugs, but our
overwhelming priority will be not to break anything. We are aware
that, above all, users of older JDK releases need stability.
