First pull of JDK 9 fixes into JDK 10

Hello,

FYI, yesterday Lana did the first pull of changes from JDK 9 into JDK 10 
as part of the the new model we're trying [1]. Over 400 changes were 
involved and the merges went smoothly. This brings JDK 10 up to date 
with changes up to JDK 9 build 156. Regression test results look good.
