Webrev: http://cr.openjdk.java.net/~andrew/openjdk6/8155261/webrev.01/
OpenJDK bug: https://bugs.openjdk.java.net/browse/JDK-8155261

The build of Zero is broken in OpenJDK 6, following (I believe),
the HotSpot 23 update. The webrev combines fixes from 8000780
with those from IcedTea to obtain a successful build.

8000780 can not be backported as is, because it wasn't applied until
after the major changes in 7023639 & 6984705. I don't think
it's wise to try backporting that due to stability issues, and it
should only come into OpenJDK 6 if we ever decide to update to HS24.

Ok to push?

Thanks,
