While most Java developers are adopting
what we think of as "Java IDEs"
such IDEs have less value for JDK developers
(
Are you ever gonna get the chance to "refactor" anything?
Does your IDE understand UNIXProcess.java.linux?
)
and JDK developers are more likely to be
set-in-their-ways Unix greybeards such as myself,
who end up using idiosyncratic development environments.
E.g. I use my own personal fork of XEmacs,
with 15-year old private customizations.
