Over the next few weeks we'll update the legal notices in Sun-copyrighted
OpenJDK source files to reflect Oracle's acquisition of Sun. This change
will affect the OpenJDK 6 forest [1], the JDK 7 master forest [2] and
active integration forests, the HotSpot stabilization forests, and the
source bundles for the jaxp and jax-ws components. Only the listed
copyright holder will change; the licenses themselves will remain the
same.
Oracle's standard formats for copyright lines differ from Sun's, which
were either
Copyright $X Sun Microsystems, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
for a file created and modified only in year $X, or
Copyright $X-$Y Sun Microsystems, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
for a file created in year $X and last modified in year $Y ($Y > $X).
The Oracle formats are, respectively:
Copyright (c) $X, Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved.
and
Copyright (c) $X, $Y, Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved.
The multi-year copyright is different ("$X, $Y" instead of "$X-$Y"), but
the meaning is the same.
Related OpenJDK legal documents [3] will be updated in a similar manner
in due course.
