It's okay, it's not a problem. It's just not something I'd thought would
be backported, personally.

Yes. Sorry, I missed that these were all sun.* changes in my first
look at the webrevs. I don't see any problem with keeping the tools
or internal implementation in shape. My concern was in regard to subtle
changes in API behaviour that may even cause TCK failures.
