In general, this is unavoidable because it ensures that there are no 
regressions when upgrading to later JDK versions.

It seems that building on Windows XP is still supported in JDK 8, so 
build fixes have to applied there as well.  So the first step really is 
to figure out why you can't build this version, sorry.
