Some of you may have seen the press release at http://investors.redhat.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=918712
I'd like to clarify some things.
I am the leader of the OpenJDK 7 project and I work for Red Hat. I am
leading this project on behalf of the OpenJDK community because the
community (of which Red Hat is a part) needs to keep OpenJDK 7 going.
Red Hat is surely going to be more involved than it has been. Oracle's
reduced involvement makes this necessary.
However, Red Hat does not lead OpenJDK 7: I do. It's important to
make that distinction because this is a community project and in this
role I am responsible to the community, not to Red Hat.
So, this is not an attempt by Red Hat to control or take over OpenJDK
7 development. I intend to lead the project in the way that it has
been run in the past, working together with the whole community.
Andrew.
