jcheck is enabled on OpenJDK 7u so yes, it will be an issue AFAICS.

I don't really want to lose all the history with just one huge
patch either. I'll take a look after the CPU and see what we can do.

Yes, making sure 7u101 works on ppc would be a good idea! :)
There are PPC fixes from IcedTea which will need to be merged
too. Probably easiest to do that in a merged OpenJDK 7u at
the beginning of the next release cycle.
