From nikolay at azulsystems.com Wed Sep 7 13:37:51 2016 From: nikolay at azulsystems.com (Nikolay Gorshkov) Date: Wed, 7 Sep 2016 13:37:51 +0000 Subject: RFR [7] 8133206: "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: unable to create new native thread" caused by upgrade to zlib 1.2.8 Message-ID: Hello, I'd like to ask again for integration approval for the following fix in core-libs area: - Bug report: https://bugs.openjdk.java.net/browse/JDK-8133206 - Webrev of the fix: http://cr.openjdk.java.net/~nikgor/8133206/jdk7u-dev/webrev.01/ I just confirmed that this fix applies cleanly to the current jdk7u-dev/jdk repository, and the produced FVB passes the unit tests provided by Alex Kashchenko. We have already tried to get approval for this fix almost 11 months ago, but without much success. - JDK 7u review request: http://mail.openjdk.java.net/pipermail/core-libs-dev/2015-October/035884.html - JDK 9 review request: http://mail.openjdk.java.net/pipermail/core-libs-dev/2015-November/036463.html There was a valid concern that the actual root cause may be in third-party software. But anyway, we are not in a position to modify it. From other side, there are customers that need the problem be fixed and currently use custom builds. So we are still interested in delivering this fix at least to jdk7u-dev. I really think this needs to go in 9 first before we consider it for the stable releases (7u, 8u). -- Andrew :) Senior Free Java Software Engineer Red Hat, Inc.
