[8u40] approval request for batch of native memory tracking related backports: 8046598, 8044140, 8054938, 8054952, 8054368, 8055007, 8055061, 8054546 and 8055236

these are hotspot related and should enter the 8u40 codeline via the 
hotspot team forest :

No need to get approval to push code to there, Alejandro will look after 
approval via bulk integration request. Note that some of the bug fixes 
are lacking a testcase - bug reports should have a noreg- label in such 
instances.
