[8u72] Backport of JDK-8058175: XML - Attribute values with supplemental characters are being corrupted

Hi Vincent,
I'll do the backport to 8u-dev. About getting it into 8u72 - we're 
currently in RDP2 [1] for 8u72 and I'm not sure that it will be approved 
for 8u72 inclusion, but will try it.
