Please send this to the mailing list. Ideally you could prepare a
patchset which targets for merging into master and we can than focus
in the segfault debugging.

I think your branch seems to be the most advanced one but the logs and
patches are not logically splitted. Is it possible to get this cleaned
so we can try to iron this out?
