I made another quick test today. Turns out it works just using the standard jre1.8.0_111 Java 
configuration panel to add the modified JRE to be used for firefox applets, which is quite a relief.
We'll just test if smartcard support works with that. If not we will have to switch to
Oracle JRE sources somehow if security-dev has no solution for any problems coming up...
