[8u] ppc64 build failure after backport of 8152545

What's the failure you are seeing exactly? Is this ppc64 (BE) or
ppc64le? If the latter, there is at least one build I know of that
works fine[1].

AFAIK, Andrew Hughes tests builds on ppc64 BE too before builds are
being promoted. Is that right, Andrew?
