I've also been using it and don't have any objection to it going in. I 
did find a few issues with the original version that Michael published 
but he has since fixed them. I don't know if that is the reason for your 
patch. So assume I'll sponsor this (as Michael doesn't isn't a 
commtitter on this project) and get it in soon.
