FYI: The default method implementation has finally made it into a jdk8 hotspot repo: http://hg.openjdk.java.net/hsx/hotspot-rt/hotspot/rev/4735d2c84362 From here it will trickle up first to hsx/hotspot-main, and then to jdk8/hotspot as the gatekeepers make their pushes. -- - Keith
