I think that is all very reasonable. I like your analogy. I'm going to
start using it.

The end bit a very disingenuous reading of my points. I was very clear
that I'm not asking to "do my thing first". In fact, I was very clear
that I'm not asking for anything at all. Yet I'm accused of it
(again). I am/was legitimately trying to give you a POV is that
slightly unique from the normal use case, on the off chance you hadn't
encountered it yet, If there is anything I want from you, it's just
that you understand my use case. I'm not asking that you do anything
about it. Just to be aware of it. That is all.

My attempt has just been met w/ hostility (except for Alan, who was
actually helpful). I've been told that my need for the feature isn't
real. Now I'm being told that I have a problem w/ your stewardship of
java (thanks for putting words in my mouth). straw-man after
straw-man. Why do you bother asking for feedback, if you're going to
respond to it so negatively?

I would prefer a steward of java who is curious about their users, and
generous with their ability to listen (even they've heard it 100 times
before). You seem to be neither of those.

Clearly, this conversation (to the extent it ever was one) is past the
point of usefulness.
