@sspitsyn and @plummercj had comments so maybe give them a chance to see the updated change. I think what you have is okay, you addressed my comment, and we can always tweak it later. 

Minimal VM was mostly for embedded targets in JDK 8, I don't have a good sense on how many people build and use it these days.
