We are currently working on it (and we've had a few projects with more near-term deadlines that we've also been working on). Unfortunately, due to the interconnected nature of the lower levels of the AWT, it is difficult to demonstrate incremental progress. Also, our desire to keep the X11 graphics pipeline runnable in parallel to the Cocoa effort has proven to be a technical sticking point (since both have shared and divergent OpenGL parts to them).
I'm sorry we haven't been able to provide check-ins to show you our current work, but it would effectively break either the run-ability or build-ability of the public tree.
If we are unable to "pull it all together" soon, I think we'll create a public development branch separate from the trunk where we can at least demonstrate progress, even if it proves unstable.
Also, please use the macosx-port-dev at openjdk.java.net list for discussion of the Mac OS X OpenJDK port.
