Possibly. Not that I specifically remember. It would almost have to have been a X11 install though wouldn't it? No standalone freetype install would be going to the X11 directory would it?
Starting X11 the about window shows 
The X Window System
XQuartz 2.3.4 (xorg-server 1.4.2-apple45)
Would this be older than a usual 10.6 X11?
