NSSavePanel access in OpenJDK7 ?

Has there been any work on the AWT FileChooser API, to allow multiple selection, folder selection, different modality etc (I know of the Apple system property that helps with folder selection, but that's not what I'm looking for here) in (Open)JDK 7?  I know there was some talk about overhauling the AWT FileChooser some time ago, but haven't seen anything come out of it.
