Faster than me. I just noticed that as well and was going to try the GraphicsEnvironment method.
Old code, deprecated should not mean broken though?
Now I would wonder if the issue I originally mentioned, monospaced styled output for a JTextPane not working is the same issue or a separate one.
If font support is ok, just the deprecated Toolkit method is bad, then JTextPane not right may not be related and a separate bug report or at least a separate issue.
