Nothing in the JDK itself uses it, and it contributes about 500k to the overall runtime. That's not a lot, compared to the 62 MB for all of rt.jar, but every little bit helps.

I think this makes a lot of sense. On my system, JObjC.jar is actually about 2.5MB (though that is uncompressed - maybe you are referring to the download size).
