Has the bug database moved?

Let me try and clarify a few things :-
The Java group at Oracle has just switched from our old Sun-originated
internal bug tracking system (bugster) to a new *internal* instance of
JIRA (jbs)
You can't get access to that JIRA from outside Oracle - yet !
bugs.sun.com still exists and files what we call "incidents"
as it has done for maybe 10 years now .. into yet-another
system - the incident tracking system. The number you get is therefor
a "incident manager" ID. Not the final bug id.
That system had a tool which had "click one button" capability
to forward verified incidents into the real bugtracking system - bugster
when you would get the real bug ID.
But for the last 2 or 3 years, for many "subcomponents" (eg classes_2d)
it was even better - your incident went directly into bugster, got
a real bugID right off the bat when you submitted.
Now however, and for a little while to come, Incident Manager
has no way to forward incidents into the new JIRA
It has become a "manual" process - involving a person doing copy/paste.
This will get fixed but right now I think it means that your incident is
less likely to get prompt attention.
If you need to file a JDK bug as an OpenJDK developer, particularly
if you need a bug ID for a fix, your best bet is to just ask someone at
Oracle.
This *will* get better, but we had to switch to the new JIRA before
bugster was switched off.
Finally, the java.net/jira is not the right JIRA except for the specific
openjdk projects which are using it. And the OS X port used it at first,
but now its moved into OpenJDK, bugs there (java.net/jira) are not tracked.
Everything that needed to be, was moved in to the main bug database
many months ago ..
