Is there a 24 hr production release warning DL?

Was looking around on Java.net for some email distribution list, which sent out production release notifications BEFORE they actually occur. Actually, I could not even find a reference to any email lists. I do not remember any more how I added myself to this list.
On the assumption that it does not exist, this is what might make things run smoother:
1) Production release message are sent 24 hrs prior to going live, or when known if earlier. This is coupled with some way to get the final release through alternate channels. A link pointing to the location would save time.
2) No one can generally send to this list This is not a place for two way communications. If you spot a problem, submit a bug, and/or use the lists like this or forums.
3) ea's should also be announced when they happen. When possible, there should also be release candidate ea with tight restriction rules on what can cause any change before the production release. Unless your job is actually making Java, who could retest all their products once a week against the latest ea on multiple platforms?
Some of this information is probably gleanable today, but there has got to be an easier way. Would anyone else subscribe?
Finally, on a Mac specific note: why is there no way to un-install the JRE under program control? I do not think you need to be able to run more than one JRE at a time, but say you load an ea & did your tests. How do you get it out? On Windows, I can just uninstall it (minus the regedit pointers), then reload the production one. On a side note I will NEVER EVER use the JRE control panel's facility to update my system again, Windows or Mac. If you download the media separately and keep it, then you have it if you missed something. It is gone from the website, AFAIK. Can just loading an older JRE always work as a substitute for uninstall?
Thanks,
Jeff
